Founded in 2005 by independent curators Deirdre Corley and Kelly Shindler, Package Deals is a New York City-based multidisciplinary music and film screening series showcasing the best in film, art, and music from the world's most vibrant creative communities. Following a program's premiere, it evolves into a "Touring Package," which travels to diverse sites in the months to come.
To date, Package Deals has explored Icelandic short film and video art; Swedish animation and short film; and the Scandinavian and North American music scenes. These programs have screened at film festivals, cinemas, art spaces, and galleries in over 30 cities, including Reykjavik, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Taipei, Hong Kong, London, Zagreb, New York, Toronto, Seattle, New Orleans, Chicago, Boston, and more. Collaboration, support and guidance have been provided by such institutions as the Consulate General of Sweden in New York, The Tank, the Icelandic Tourism Board, Scandinavia House, The American-Scandinavian Foundation, the Icelandic Film Center, and the Center For Icelandic Art.
In addition to Package Deals' regular screenings and touring programs, we partner with the Icelandic Tourism Board to program and produce the film festival component of its touring Icelandic Culture Weeks, which bring Icelandic cuisine, music, art and films to major cities across North America.
